1. Who operates this site
Examtro is operated by an independent developer and education enthusiast based in India. We are not affiliated with the National Testing Agency (NTA), the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main / JEE Advanced), the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), or any government body. All trademarks belong to their respective owners. For any privacy-related questions, contact us at support@examtro.online.
2. Information we collect
We aim to collect only what is needed to run the platform and improve it. The categories of information we may collect include:
- Account data — when you sign in with Google or Discord, we receive your name, email address, and a profile picture URL from the authentication provider. We do not receive your password.
- Exam preference — whether you are preparing for NEET or JEE, stored locally in your browser so we can tailor the dashboard.
- Test and practice data — when you take a generated test or practice PYQs, we store your attempts, answers, scores, bookmarks, and reported questions so you can review your progress and mistakes. This is linked to your account so only you can see it.
- Contact form submissions — if you use our contact form, we receive the name, email, subject, and message you provide.
- Log and device data — our hosting and analytics providers automatically log standard request information such as IP address, browser type, device type, referring URL, and timestamps. This is used for security, abuse prevention, and aggregated analytics.
- Cookies and local storage — described in detail in Section 3 below.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
We and our service providers use cookies, web beacons, local storage, and similar technologies to operate the site, keep you signed in, remember your preferences, measure traffic, and (if we run advertising in the future) serve and measure ads. The main categories are:
- Essential cookies — required for the site to function (authentication sessions, your exam preference, security tokens). These cannot be turned off.
- Analytics & preference cookies — help us understand usage and remember settings. These are optional and only loaded after you give consent via our cookie banner.
- Advertising cookies — if we run ads (e.g. via Google AdSense), these cookies measure ad performance and, where you have consented, serve personalized ads based on your visits to this site and other sites. See Section 4.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies will prevent you from signing in or taking tests. See Section 8 for your choices.
4. Advertising and Google AdSense
We may display advertising on this website, including ads served by Google AdSense and other advertising partners. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website and/or other websites.
Google's use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
If other third-party ad networks or vendors serve ads on this site, those vendors may also use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, or similar technologies for ad serving, measurement, fraud prevention, and personalization where permitted. You can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices.
You can learn more about how Google uses information from sites and apps that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Important for tools and practice data: When you use our test generator or PYQ practice features, the subjects, chapters, and answer choices you select are stored so you can resume tests and review your mistakes. This data is linked to your account and is not used for ad personalization. We do not sell your practice data to any third party.
5. Analytics and embedded content
We use the following third-party services that may collect information about your use of this site:
- Google Analytics — to understand aggregate traffic patterns, page popularity, and device breakdowns. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect anonymized usage data. You can review Google's privacy practices at policies.google.com/privacy.
- Authentication providers — Google Sign-In and Discord OAuth. When you sign in, these providers set their own cookies and share your basic profile information (name, email, avatar) with us. See their respective privacy policies.
- Hosting provider (Vercel) — hosts our website and logs request metadata (IP address, browser, timestamps) for security and performance. See Vercel's Privacy Policy.
6. How we use your data
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Examtro platform.
- Authenticate you and keep you signed in across sessions.
- Store and display your test attempts, scores, bookmarks, and mistakes so you can track your progress.
- Respond to your support requests and contact form messages.
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms.
- Analyze aggregate usage trends to decide what features and content to build next.
- Comply with our legal obligations and protect our rights.
7. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the following categories of recipients, as needed to operate the site:
- Infrastructure providers — Vercel (hosting) and Supabase (database and authentication). These providers process data on our behalf under their standard terms.
- Analytics providers — Google Analytics, which processes anonymized traffic data under Google's terms.
- Advertising partners — if we enable advertising (e.g. Google AdSense), those partners may process cookies and ad-measurement data as described in Section 4.
- Legal authorities — where required by law, court order, or to protect our rights and the safety of our users.
8. Your choices and rights
You have several controls over your data and your experience on Examtro:
- Cookie consent — our cookie banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies. You can change your choice anytime by clearing localStorage for examtro.online.
- Personalized ad opt-out — visit Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info/choices to opt out of interest-based advertising from participating networks.
- Browser controls — most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Blocking essential cookies will prevent sign-in and test-taking.
- Account data access / deletion — you can request a copy of your account data or permanent deletion of your account and all associated test data by emailing support@examtro.online. We respond within 30 days.
- Region-specific rights — if you are in the European Economic Area, UK, Switzerland, or California, you may have additional rights under the GDPR or CCPA respectively, including the right to access, correct, port, or erase your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email above.
9. Children's privacy and sensitive data
Examtro is designed for students preparing for NEET and JEE, which includes users aged 16-18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). If a parent or guardian believes we have collected information from a child in violation of this policy, they can request deletion at support@examtro.online.
We do not knowingly collect or use sensitive personal data (such as health information, racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, or sexual orientation) for ad personalization or any other purpose.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be highlighted on the site. Continued use of Examtro after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
